As the area's Continuum of Care (CoC) lead agency through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), CRHC applies for federal funding on behalf of the region for programs of local agencies that are committed to the goal of ending homelessness in Southeast Tennessee.
CRHC helps agencies track their services through our Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). This database is used to collect client information and track services. Through reports generated by the HMIS, CRHC can identify service gaps or duplications of services to ensure the community's resources are being used efficiently.
The annual Point-in-Time (PIT) Count is mandated by HUD for communities across the country. At the end of January, employees and volunteers canvass the 11 county CoC to count and survey individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The PIT count helps ensure the voices of people experiencing homelessness in our community are heard, while providing a count of how many people are experiencing homelessness in the CoC.
Our CoC's Coordinated Entry Process provides a centralized location where individuals and families seeking services in our area can receive a referral to a program that meets their needs. The process helps to ensure that the most vulnerable of our citizens receive the help they need before it is too late.
