About Us
The Chattanooga Regional Homeless Coalition (CRHC) leads the community’s efforts to prevent and end homelessness across Southeast Tennessee. As the backbone agency for our region’s Continuum of Care (CoC), we bring together service providers, local governments, and community partners to build a coordinated, data-driven system of care.
Our Story
The Chattanooga Regional Homeless Coalition (CRHC) was born out of community action. In May 1987, the Metropolitan Council for Community Services completed Chattanooga’s first survey of people experiencing homelessness—an effort that sparked the creation of CRHC. By 1995, the Coalition was formally established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and since 1998 has served as the lead agency for the Chattanooga / Southeast Tennessee Continuum of Care (CoC), now spanning eleven counties.
In 1999, CRHC became the host of the region’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), a critical tool for tracking services and ensuring resources are used effectively. Over the years, our role has continued to grow. In 2021, we launched the Flexible Housing Fund to remove financial barriers that prevent people from being housed—securing $2.3 million that same year to strengthen our region’s response to homelessness.
The following year, the City of Chattanooga contracted CRHC to lead the community’s homeless response system, including the publication of a Strategic Plan to Address and End Homelessness. And in 2023, we hosted a statewide conference to equip service providers with best practices, foster collaboration, and spark new ideas to better serve our neighbors in need.
Today, CRHC continues to lead with data, training, and advocacy. We provide ongoing workshops and support to CoC members, and we welcome the participation of public and private agencies, faith-based groups, community members, and those with lived experience of homelessness. Together, we are building a more coordinated, compassionate, and effective system—working toward the day when every person in our region has a safe and stable home.
